DESCRIPTION: APW - Waltham, split-seconds chronograph of unusual design, Model 1884, at least 17J, 14S, gold-filled OF original C.W.C.Co. case containing paper for Geo. E. Townsend of Vienna, Virginia within rear, white enamel SS dial, SW-LS, gilt mvt, s#3492983. CONDITION: Mvt: Running, good chronograph and split-seconds function aside from an occasional sluggishness and reset to two marks before zero, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, scratch to main plate above "Waltham," hole in main plate within star appears to have been enlarged with an angled larger portion added to its aperture, short scratch to chronograph bridge adjacent screw, very minor oxide to steelwork; nearly flawless dial with few scattered fine surface scratches, some areas of wispy haze in dial glaze evident in reflected light, grouping of minuscule flakes under bezel at 1; fine hands; case shows little wear, some dings to lower rear above hinge area; tight bow, crown shows light wear; glass crystal with few scattered fine scratches, few internal edge flakes.
